Upper Key Stage 2
Welcome to the Foxes Class Page!
We are very lucky to have the following staff to support and help the children in their learning:
Mr Savage: Class Teacher (Monday, Tuesday (AM), Wednesday, Thursday (AM) and Friday)
Mrs Mullock and Mrs Hutchings: Mrs Mullock and Mrs Hutchings will be working with the children from Monday - Friday.
Mrs K: Mrs K will be working with the children on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon.
PPA Cover: Crewe Alex, Sports Coaches and Love Music Trust.
We are extremely lucky to have a fantastic team of Teachers and Teaching Assistants to support the children with their learning.
Foxes is a place where the children have a desire to come into school, overcome new challenges and have a real aspiration to learn.
I am so excited for all the fantastic lessons this year, we have got lots of exciting opportunities coming up.

Year 5/6 Autumn 1
For Autumn half term 1, we will be studying WWII and how it affected life in Britain.
This will include look at: Writing a diary entry as a person experiencing the Blitz.
How light travellng in a straight line helped soldiers see enemy aircrafts.
Who the Allies and Axis are, and where they are on a map.
English: This half term, we will be completing the Grammasauarus: Place value of Punctuation and Grammer (PVPG) unit to improve and soldifiy our knowledge of key SPaG rules.
Maths: We will be working on Place Value: including Roman numerals, numbers up to 10,000,000 and negative numbers.
Guided Reading: In our reading lessons, we will be reading 'Poems from the Second World War' by Gaby Morgan, supported by the text 'When We Were Warriors' by Emma Carroll to support our WWII knowledge.

General Year 5/6 Class Information
P.E Sessions: During the Autumn 1 half term, children will need to wear PE kits on Mondays and Tuesdays for PE.
Music: We will be having our weekly Ukulele lessons on a Thursday (PM).

Homework
Weekly Spellings:
Your child will receive their spelling homework on a Friday. The spelling rule will then be taught each day to help embed this into their writing. Please can all children practise their weekly spellings, in time for their spelling test the following Friday.
Maths Homework:
The children in Y5/6 class are expected to be regularly logging onto TTRS and Magma Maths (We can provide logins for these if required).
Reading:
Your child has a school reading book and an individual reading journal. Please can we encourage as much reading at home as possible (at least three times a week) as well as a comment written from you when you can. Thank you.
Timestables:
Your child will be given a login for Times Tables Rock stars, an exciting online tool to help them to learn times tables. It's fun maths we promise!
Dojo homework:
This can be found on the homework tab at the top of this page and on ClassDojo. While this is not compulsary, it's a great way to learn more about our topic and earn Dojo points to convert in our shop at the end of term. We are continuing to build our book reviews and recommendations as a class, as well as working as a team to achieve as many Dojo points as possible as a class. Please check our Dojo page regularly for updates regarding homework.
